The Outstanding Virtue Of Imagination-Prelude

Running for what seemed to be an eternity, I finally managed to find cover from the wraith that was chasing me. Drips of sweat were covering my face, while my heavy breathing and overall exhausting feeling that I had were coursing through my battered body, slowly but surely draining me from what was left of my already shattered energy. I can barely remember what happened, while I was down that accursed network of abandoned buildings. Why me? Why does my curiosity always have to put me in situations like this? I can barely keep my footing from so much running, I have no idea how am I even capable of writing this, as that... that... ABOMINATION keeps getting closer and closer, trashing everything around, in a slow but sure attempt to find me and finish me. Maybe I wasn't born to survive this world, but for now, what matters most, is to keep running, and to not look back. I dread the moment when I'll hear that mortifying screech again.
           I have to escape.

Play

How can something so looked-down upon be something so vital to our lives? Its mere existence is in no way logical, but at the same time, makes so much sense to us.
We need a tool to escape, a tool to remove us from our boring daily routines, something to release our minds from the hardened chains of formality and coldness, to return to our raw essence.
Playing is a vital tool for children to spend their time, to grow up and to develop a healthy body and mind, but while growing up, playing receives less and less attention from us, for some eventually becoming non-existent.
Which is a shame, really. By playing, we can deepen our knowledge, or like some advertisements call it, learn by playing, which it can vary, you can search meaning and logic in playing, or you can do it mindlessly, without learning anything, but getting more relaxation and enjoyment out of it in the meantime. As many people say, balance is key.
Most of us are being told that we should try to look for employment within our passion, which poses for a weirder question: Should we give up our playtime for our job? Should we risk developing an unpleasant chore out of what was once a passion? Moreover, is the risk worth it?
Maybe...maybe not. It entirely depends on you, whether you can build a career out of you passion and actually enjoy it, or make it a gruesome chore and blame yourself for doing it for the rest of your life. It's entirely up to you.

As with all things in life, there are rules. Normal life has its rules, so do games and playing. And among the rules, there is also the involvement of chance. In a multiplayer game, you can have some sort of advantage, by chance; environmental advantage, stat advantage, but everything is in balance, everything has an advantage over something else. Which is mostly in contrast to real life, it's the contrast that keeps us playing that particular game. In the real world, chances are you won't have any advantage whatsoever, and if you do have, well, you are a really lucky person, because not many people get that. But somehow, some things still get to stay mostly in balance. For example, you can't have a perfect human.
We can take 2 people for example, the male is a smart, slim and bad looking guy, and the woman is a stunning, resourceful and powerful girl, but with lesser mental skills. The woman is born in a poorer family, and the male is born in a richer, more stable family. What we have here is a good example of how one can survive in this world. The male can use his mental skills to his interest, and to survive in the harsh world without being extremely fit, and the woman can use her appearance and resourcefulness to marry a male good enough to assure her good living conditions and protection. It is all put into balance, and different people can survive differently in this world. Now, chance also comes in with the sad examples of handicapped people, who are born with all sorts of terminal diseases and syndromes, where balance doesn't apply at all.
The sad example of handicapped people never applies to games, all players start equal, by different means. If a game is different than that, then it is mostly flawed and is doomed to fail. The whole experience is also built around enjoyment and happiness, whereas the real world is a harsh place, meant only for the toughest and for the entities at the top of the food chain. But that is another issue, and we do not care about other issues while we play.
                 We need to escape.
