Helpless Helper

All of you have been here at least once: A seemingly desperate situation, engulfing you in darkness and dragging you deeper and deeper into the abyss. Everything seems hopeless, you can't breathe, you can't get out. But then it comes: A dim light at the end of the tunnel, a sudden force dragging you out and preventing you from collapsing into the unknown, a blessing came from Heaven itself that arrived at just the right time before you crashed into the darkness. You feel relieved, relaxed and brought anew into the world of righteousness and justice. You see the person 's face and you begin to cry with overwhelming joy, constantly thanking him that he saved you from a dreadful fate. Looking forward sudden new possibilities appear and bloom, like flowers on a sunny spring afternoon. Feeling the change, you begin to think that you need to return the favor to others, to as many people as possible, before the time runs out...
The truth is, very few people actually get to help other people, not because they don't get out; there are plenty of helpful people that they might encounter, but because of themselves. And what i mean by that is the lack of altruism is beyond what can be called normal, actually deviating to the bad side, when the person actually purposefully wants to hinder someone's path and actually deviate them to the dark side where they can collapse anytime.
Here lies the concept of balance in the universe, for every good thing that can happen, there are at least an equal number of equally worse things than can happen. And that also includes people, for every altruist person, 7 more horrible people can be born. Every one of them has a purpose. The latter have the sole purpose to engulf others in darkness, while the altruists help those in need. Natural selection itself is the sole purpose. Those who are weak and don't have an altruist friend are destined to fall for the stronger ones.
But it doesn't have to be like that. Altruism is what actually makes people be... human... it lies in the very roots of humanity as a trait, among kindness and others. No matter how broken we feel, no matter how down we are, we can always make the world a better place by helping somebody. Here is a famous quote from the movie Rocky Balboa, that I feel it's much needed as an ending: " The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! "
